Day 1 • Depart San Francisco for Beijing
Fly transpacific aboard United Airlines. |

Day 2 • Arrive Beijing
Upon arrival, you are met and escorted to the hotel.

Day 3 • Beijing |
|
Today's highlights include Tiananmen Square and Ming extravagance
in the Forbidden City's Imperial Palace, featuring the living
quarters, museum and jewelry sections. Afternoon, take a pedicab
tour of the ancient Hutong district including a visit with a local
family and a kindergarten class (when school is in session), then
see the Drum Tower. This evening, enjoy a traditional Peking Duck
dinner party at the Presidential Plaza.

Day 4 • Beijing |
|
Today, walk the ancient ramparts of the stupendous Great Wall.
Then stroll along the Sacred Way between statues of warriors and
animals to the Ming Tombs and Chang Ling Exhibition Hall. After
lunch, visit a cloisonné factory.

Day 5 • Beijing/Urumqi/Turpan |
|
Mid-day fly to Urumqi, a city marked by ancient gates and towers
and on arrival motor coach to Turpan, site of the former Che Shi
Kingdom. Dinner at the Xizhou Hotel.

Day 6 • Turpan |
|
Today's sightseeing highlights are: the Karez Well, the ruins at
Jiaohe City, Gaochang, an important site on the Silk Route, Astana
Tombs, these Tang dynasty tombs are part of the underground museum
of Turpan, The Flaming Mountain, a red mountain which resembles a
fiery dragon in the desert sunlight and the Suliman Minaret. This
evening, enjoy dinner with a local family.

Day 7 • Turpan/Urumqi |
|
Drive back to Urumqi and the rest of the day is free, with lunch
and dinner at the hotel.

|
Today's sightseeing highlights include the Xinjiang Provincial
Museum, a boat ride on Lake Tianchi, and a visit with a Kazakhs

|
Morning flight to Dunhuang. Visit White Horse Pagoda and see the
area's remarkable singing sand dunes, where you may take a camel

|
Half-day tour of the magnificent art treasures at the famed Mogao
Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are among the most ancient
and consummate creations in China. The cells and cave sanctuaries
show an uninterrupted history of Buddhist art over a period of
more than 1,000 years. Afternoon, enjoy the Dunhuang Museum.

Day 11 • Dunhuang/Xi'an |
|
Fly to Xi'an, site of the archeological wonders of the terra-cotta
warriors. Afternoon visit the City Wall and the exquisitely
constructed Wild Goose Pagoda. Buffet dinner at the Howard Johnson

Day 12 • Xi'an |
|
A thrilling day as you view the famous 2200-year-old life-sized
terra-cotta army uncovered from the first emperor's necropolis;
Circle Vision Movie, the Bronze Chariot and renowned Shaanxi
Provincial Historical Museum. Lunch at the Terra Cotta Museum with
noodle-making demonstration. Tonight, you are our guest at the
Tang Dynasty Theatre's celebrated dinner and show.

|
Morning flight to Shanghai. Tour The Bund and shop on Nanjing Road
