NAADAM FESTIVAL
June 28 & July 5 departures
(FESTIVAL OCCURS IN JULY EVERY YEAR)
Mongolia's most celebrated annual event is the Naadam Festival.
Part family reunion, part fair and part nomad Olympics, Naadam
games include wrestling, archery and horseracing. These three
sports traditionally measured the courage, strength and daring of
Mongolian nomads and warriors.
Experience the colorful celebrations in the countryside, away from
the throngs who increasingly attend the festival in Ulaan Baatar.
Out in the countryside, the local competitions have a more
authentic and traditional flavor. Unique to Mongolia, the lively
Naadam activities and ceremonies are not to be missed. Your
itinerary may be altered in order to encompass the best of the
celebrations. |
