Air Transportation

China has opened 980 domestic, 130 international, and 24 regional air routes. The international air routes take Beijing as the center and connects to the east, west and south through the airports in shanghai, Guangzhou, Urumqi, Dalian, Kunming, and Xiamen. Domestic air routes are distributed linking all large and medium sized-cities in China, with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou as the hubs.

 

Railway Transportation

Many new domestic and international lines were opened as railways in China developed rapidly. There are several kinds of trains – high speed trains, quasi-high speed trains, tourist trains, special expresses and through expresses. Trains have two soft upper berths and two soft lower berths in each private room. All major cities have express trains which leave in the evening and arrive in the morning, and these go to main tourist cities regularly.

 

Highway Transportation

China has advanced highway networks, with Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong as the centers. The main highways are: Shenyang-Dalian, Beijing-Tanggu, Beijing-Shijiazhuang, Nanjing-Shanghai, Shanghai-Hangzhou, Hangzhou-Ningbo, Xi’an-Lintong, Xi’an-Baoji, Guiyang-Huangguoshu, Yichang-Huangshi, Jinan-Qingdao, Guangzhou-Shenzhen, Guangzhou-Foshan, Guangzhou-Shantou, Chengdu-Chongqing, Fujian-Xiamen, RoundHainanIsland, Guilin-Liuzhou and Luoyang-Kaifeng highways.

 

Water Transportation

China has vast ports, with deep, beautiful surroundings making them popular tourist destinations. It has international sea routes, mainly in Shanghai, Tianjin, and Dalian, where ships can go to the port cities of Kobe, Osaka, Yokohama, and Inchon. Many luxury ships also go back and forth these international sea routes.Domestic sea main routes include Shanghai-Dalian, Dalian-Tianjin, Dalina-Yantai, Shanghai-Qingdao, Shanghai-Guangzhou, Beihai-Guangzhou, Shenzhen-Zhuhai, and Zhuhai-Hong Kong. There are also inland river routes which are famous for sightseeing:

  • Tourists may travel by pleasure boat along the section of the Grand Canal between Suzhou and Hangzhou.
  • Tourists may get on a dragon boat or a pleasure boat in Nanjing, Wuxi, or Yangzhou for the Grand Canal-Yangtze River-Taihu Lake Tour.
  • Tourists may take a tour along the LijiangRiver from Guilin to Yangshuo.
  • Wuhan has more than 50 pleasure trips to the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River.
