Day 1 • Depart San Francisco for Beijing
Fly transpacific aboard United Airlines.

Day 2 • Arrive Beijing
Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 • Beijing

You are off to tour Tiananmen Square and the Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, including the jewelry section. Then tour the exquisite Summer Palace with its ornate architecture and enjoy a boat ride on Lake Kunming (weather permitting). Tonight, you are invited to a delicious Peking Duck dinner party.

Day 4 • Beijing

Today, walk on the ancient ramparts of the astonishing Great Wall. Then visit a cloisonné factory and see artisans at work. Later, stroll along the Sacred Way, guarded by statues, to the Ming Tombs and Chang Ling Exhibition Hall.

Day 5 • Beijing/Xi'an

Morning at leisure before flying to historic Xi'an.

Day 6 • Xi'an

Today's sightseeing includes a visit to the life-sized terra-cotta legion of warriors, no two alike, the Circle Vision Movie, Bronze Chariot and Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum.

Day 7 • Xi'an/Chongqing

After your free morning fly to Chongqing. Visit the Stilwell Museum and view World War II memorabilia before boarding your cruise ship to begin your memorable cruise on the Yangtze River.

Day 8 • Yangtze River Cruise: Shibaozhai*

Known as the “Pearl of the Yangtze,” visit the magnificent 12-story wooden pagoda at scenic Shibaozhai today.

Day 9 • Yangtze River Cruise: Qutang Gorge/Wu Gorge/Daning River Small Gorges or Shennong Stream/Xiling Gorge

Cruise through the first of the fabled Three Gorges: Qutang Gorge hemmed by towering cliffs and sail on through Wu Gorge, known for its lofty Twelve Peaks. At Wushan, cruise up the Daning River via cruiser to view the famous Small Gorges. Continue by sampan to the picturesque mini-gorges of the Ma Du River with its clear, swift running water, unusual rock formations, and monkeys and goats along the banks. Alternatively, your excursion may be on Shennong Stream with its dramatic gorges. Pass through the last and most scenic of the major gorges, Xiling Gorge and then through the Three Gorges ship lock.

Day 10 • Yangtze River Cruise: Xiling Gorge/San Dou Ping/Yichang to Shanghai*

At San Dou Ping, see the amazing Three Gorges Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric project. Continue on to Yichang where you board your flight to Shanghai, China's center of commerce.

Day 11 • Shanghai

Enjoy Shanghai's famous shopping on Nanjing or Huai Hai Road. Then see the rich collections at the Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, a carpet factory, The Bund and a perform­ance at the Children's Palace. This evening, enjoy an astonishing acrobatic show.

Day 12 • Shanghai/Hangzhou*

Morning at leisure in Shanghai. Then motor coach to scenic Hangzhou.

Day 13 • Hangzhou

Take a boat ride on lovely Inner West Lake, visit Hua Gang Park and Huqingyu Pharmacy, a Tang museum of Chinese medicine. Then tour remarkable 4th century Ling Yin Monastery, and on to visit the Tea Production Brigade.

Day 14 • Hangzhou/Guilin

The morning is at leisure. Fly to Guilin. Sightseeing includes Reed Flute Cave and Fu Bo Hill's dramatic rock formations.

Day 15 • Guilin

Today's cruise along the Li River, with lunch served aboard ship, reveals the haunting beauty of Guilin's misty peaks surrounding the river en route to Yangshuo.

HONG KONG

Day 16 • Guilin/Guangzhou/Hong Kong

A change of pace today as you fly to Guangzhou. Enjoy a tour of Chen Clan Temple and and Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall followed by a dim sum lunch. Transfer by train to Hong Kong. Check into your hotel.

Day 17 • Hong Kong

See Stanley Market, Repulse Bay and enjoy a sampan tour of the floating community at Aberdeen. Then drive up to Victoria Peak to view a spectacular panorama of the city and harbor.
