Itinerary:

 

Day 1 (Monday) USA to Beijing

Fly from hometown city to Beijing

 

Day 2 (Tuesday) Arrive Beijing

Arrive Beijing , the capital of China . Upon arrival, our friendly guide will meet you and transfer you to Chang An Grand Hotel or similar class hotel.

 

Day 3 (Wednesday) Beijing / Urumqi

Take morning flight to Urumqi . It is a unique air route, as it geographically covers two massive deserts, as well as many high red-rock or snow-capped mountains, valleys, and canyons. This afternoon, travel 70 km southwest to Nanshan Grassland, where you will visit ethnic minority families; chat with them in their yurts while drinking strong Milk Tea and having some local home-made snacks. Check into Urumqi Hoi Tak Hotel or similar class hotel.

Day 4 (Thursday) Urumqi

Drive 120 km northeast to Heavenly Lake (UNESCO), which is at an elevation of 2600 meters. The beautiful lake is flanked by rugged pines and cypresses, with melted clear waters reflecting the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Drive back and visit the Provincial Museum to see the incredible mummies from 2,000 years ago. If time permits, visit the Red Hill Park and a local bazaar. Dinner with song and dance performances.

Day 5 (Friday) Urumqi / Turpan

This morning, drive along the ancient Silk Road across the Heavenly Mount to Turpan ¨C an oasis surrounded by desert and dry mountains. Upon arrival, visit the mysterious ruins of Jiaohe city, which reveals traces of a prosperous ancient trading center and a military base from sixteen-hundred years ago. Also visit Karez, its underground water supply and irrigation system, and its museum. Turpan is famous throughout China for its large, sweet grapes and gourds, so you'll visit the grape valley and enjoy fruits there. Check into Oasis Hotel or similar class hotel.

Day 6 (Saturday) Turpan / Urumqi by bus, Urumqi / Kashgar

In the morning, visit Sugong Pagoda, the Flaming Mountain , and the Bezeklik Thousand Buddha Grottoes. Have lunch with a local family. In the afternoon, drive back to Urumqi and take the evening flight to Kashgar. Check into Qinibagh Hotel or similar class hotel.

Day 7 (Sunday) Kashgar / Urumqi

This morning, watch the Moslems Sunday Pray. It is incredible to see thousands of Muslims kneeling down on the streets, especially in the front of the mosques. Then, visit the Sunday Bazaar ¨C the largest outdoor market in mid-Asia. In the afternoon, we'll drive to see the tombs of the Fragrant Concubine and the Old Town of Kashigar, which will bring you back 1500 years ago. Take evening flight back to Urumqi . Check into Urumqi Hoit Tak Hotel or similar class hotel.

Day 8 (Monday) Urumqi / Dunhuang

We take a morning flight to Dunhuang. Afternoon tour to the world heritage site¨C Mogao Grottoes. It is the world's most important site of ancient Buddhist Culture. The grottoes preserve nearly a thousand years of Buddhist cave-temple architecture, clay sculpture, mural paintings, and manuscripts, dating from the 5th to 14th centuries. Check into Dunhuang Hotel VIP Building or similar.

Day 9 (Tuesday) Dunhuang

Today drive two hours west across the desert to Yumen Pass ( Jade Gate Pass ), which was the west terminal of the Great Wall built in Han Dynasty 2,100 years ago. Then drive back and visit the Crescent Moon Lake and Sand Singing Dune. Ride a camel and enjoy the marvelous sunset.

Day 10 (Wednesday) Dunhuang / Xian

Fly to Xi'an in the morning. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and transfer to Aurum International Hotel or similar class hotel. In the afternoon, take a tour of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Bell Tower , and Xi Guan Street .

Day 11 (Thursday) Xian

Today's highlight is the 2000 year-old Terracotta Warriors and bronze chariots guarding the tomb of China 's first emperor. Afterwards, visit the Shaanxi Provincial Museum or Banpo Neolithic Museum. Enjoy a Dumpling Dinner and Tang Dynasty Performance tonight.

Day 12 (Friday) Xian / Shanghai

Transfer to airport and fly to Shanghai in the morning. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and transfer to Galaxy Hotel or similar class hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city on your own.

Day 13 (Saturday) Shanghai

Today's sightseeing includes the Bund, Classical Yu Garden, Shanghai Museum , the People Square , and Nanjing Road or Xintiandi In the evening, enjoy the Shanghai Acrobatic Show ¨C an unforgettable experience.

Day 14 (Sunday) Depart Shanghai

Transfer to Pudong International Airport for your flight back home or your next destination.
