After
breakfast and a welcome orientation, sightseeing includes Tiananmen Square
and the Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, including the living
quarters, museum and jewelry sections. After lunch, a fun-filled pedicab
ride takes you through the Hutong district's ancient narrow streets to enjoy
a close-up look at the heritage of this exciting city and visit with one of
the local families, includes a stop at the Drum Tower (Gu Lou). Tonight,
your welcome dinner party at the hotel features cocktails before a Peking
Duck dinner.

Today
highlights the amazing wonders of the Great Wall, step back into history as
you walk along its ancient ramparts. After lunch continue on to visit a
cloisonné factory where you may observe the skilled artisans. This evening,
a buffet dinner is followed by the energetic show, “The Legend of Kung Fu,”
with seats in the front section.

This
morning visit the
Temple of
Heaven and see local morning exercise. See the Imperial Vault of Heaven with
its Echo Wall and the Nine-Dragon Cypress, thought to be more than 500 years
old. Later, fly to Shanghai and check in to your luxurious hotel. Tonight,
enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

This
morning take a half-day walking Shanghai Historic Tour of the Bund and the
French Concession. Then in the afternoon, your visit to the Shanghai Museum,
includes a handheld recorder highlighting the special features of the
museum's permanent collection. Continue on to a carpet factory and the
Children's Palace. Tonight, dinner is at a local restaurant before you
attend an astonishing performance of the renowned Shanghai acrobats, where
your reserved seats are in the front section.

This
morning drive to Zhujiajiao, the best preserved of the four water towns in
Shanghai, and known as Shanghai's Venice. Take a walking tour of the town
and a sampan ride shows the numerous bridges built during the Ming and Qing
dynasties. Return to Shanghai for a visit to the Yu garden, then dinner at
the hotel.

Morning at
leisure in Shanghai. This afternoon, fly to Yichang. After dinner, board

Yangtze River Cruise: San Dou Ping/Xiling Gorge |

morning, stop at San Dou Ping to see the historic Three Gorges Dam project.
Board the ship and sail through the dramatic Three Gorges ship lock before
continuing through Xiling Gorge, longest of the famed Three Gorges. Enjoy
nightly a-la-carte dining and great views from the ship's lovely top deck
restaurant.

Yangtze River Cruise: Wu Gorge/Daning River Small Gorges or Shennong Stream/Qutang

Early this
morning, marvel at Wu Gorge's deep zigzagging valley. At Wushan, take a
cruiser excursion up the
Daning
River to see its famous Small Gorges—Dragon Gate, Misty or Emerald. Continue
by sampan to the picturesque mini-gorges of the Ma Du River with its clear,
swift running water, unusual rock formations, and monkeys and goats along
the banks. Depending on the water level of the
Yangtze
River,
your excursion may be on Shennong Stream with its equally spectacular small
gorges. Depart Wushan, passing through impressive Qutang Gorge, walled with
mossy cliffs that crowd the sky.

A shore
excursion at Shibaozhai shows its scenic 12-story wooden pagoda. Over 400
years old, this magnificent pagoda is known as the “Pearl of the Yangtze.”

Disembark
in Chongqing. Visit the Stilwell Museum to see its collection of World War
ll artifacts including memorabilia of the Flying Tigers, a group of American
veteran pilots who volunteered to aid the Chinese in World War ll prior to
the attack on
Pearl
Harbor.
Later, fly to historic
Xi'an
where you will enjoy a buffet dinner at the hotel.

famed life-sized terra-cotta legion of warriors, buried with the emperor for

Shaanxi Provincial Historical Museum with our exclusive visit to the private
artifact room where you may handle some of the national treasures from the
museum's collection. Tonight, from your front section seats enjoy an
entertaining dinner and show at the Tang Dynasty Theatre.
